Hymn

The heavenly Word, proceeding forth
Yet leaving not the Father's side,
Accomplishing his work on earth
Had reached at length life's eventide.

By false disciple to be given
To foemen for his life athirst,
Himself, the very bread of heaven,
He gave to his disciples first.

He gave himself in either kind,
He gave his flesh, he gave his blood;
In love's own fullness thus designed,
To be, for humankind, the food.

O saving victim, opening wide
The gate of heaven to all below,
Our foes press on from every side;
Thine aid supply, thy strength bestow.

To thy great name be endless praise,
Immortal Godhead, one in three.
O grant us endless length of days
In our true native land with thee.

Psalmody

Psalm 115

Ant. 1:He received everyone with great depth of charity, and because he loved all he was loved by all.

I trusted, even when I said: *
'I am sorely afflicted,'

and when I said in my alarm: *
'No man can be trusted.'

How can I repay the Lord *
for his goodness to me?

The cup of salvation I will raise; *
I will call on the Lord's name.

My vows to the Lord I will fulfil *
before all his people.

O precious in the eyes of the Lord *
is the death of his faithful.

Your servant, Lord, your servant am I; *
you have loosened my bonds.

A thanksgiving sacrifice I make: *
I will calI on the Lord's name.

My vows to the Lord I will fulfil *
before all his people,

in the courts of the house of the Lord *
In your midst, O Jerusalem.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit;

as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.

Ant. 1:He received everyone with great depth of charity, and because he loved all he was loved by all.

Psalm 125

Ant. 2: When he was about to leave his sons, this humble man bestowed on them his testament of poverty, as a support for their life.

When the Lord delivered Sion from bondage, *
it seemed like a dream.

Then was our mouth filled with laughter, *
on our lips there were songs.

The heathens themselves said: What marvels *
the Lord worked for them!'

What marvels the Lord worked for us! *
Indeed we were glad.

Deliver us, O Lord, from our bondage *
as streams in dry land.

Those who are sowing in tears *
will sing when they reap.

They go out, they go out, full of tears, *
carrying seed for the sowing:

they come back, they come back, full of song, *
carrying their sheaves.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit;

as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.

Ant. 2: When he was about to leave his sons, this humble man bestowed on them his testament of poverty, as a support for their life.

Canticle: Eph. 1, 3-10

Ant. 3:And he often cried out in a loud voice: "Lord, have mercy on your people. What will become of sinners?"

Blessed be the God and Father *
of our Lord Jesus Christ

who has blessed us in Christ *
with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.

He chose us in him *
before the foundation of the world

that we should be holy *
and blameless before him.

He destined us in love *
to be his sons through Jesus Christ,

according to the purpose of his will,+
to the praise of his glorious grace *
which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.

In him we have redemption through his blood *
the forgiveness of our trespasses,

according to the riches of his grace *
which he lavished upon us.

He has made known to us +
in all wisdom and insight *
the mystery of his will,

according to his purpose *
which he set forth in Christ.

His purpose he set forth in Christ, *
as a plan for the fullness of time

to unite all things in him, *
things in heaven and things on earth.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit;

as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.

Ant. 3:And he often cried out in a loud voice: "Lord, have mercy on your people. What will become of sinners?"

Scripture Reading [Phil. 1, 3-5&7-8]
I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, thankful for your partnership in the Gospel; it is right for me to feel thus about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace both in my imprisonment and in the defence and confirmation of the Gospel. For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus.

Magnificat Antiphon
Great father Saint Dominic, always look kindly upon us here, and take us up with you at the hour of our death.

My soul glorifies the Lord, *
my spirit rejoices in God, my Saviour.

He looks on his servant in her lowliness; *
henceforth all ages will call me blessed.

The Almighty works marvels for me. *
Holy his name!

His mercy is from age to age, *
on those who fear him.

He puts forth his arm in strength *
and scatters the proud-hearted.

He casts the mighty from their thrones *
and raises the lowly.

He fills the starving with good things, *
sends the rich away empty.

He protects Israel, his servant, *
remembering his mercy,

the mercy promised to our fathers, *
to Abraham and his sons for ever.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit;

as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.

Magnificat Antiphon
Great father Saint Dominic, always look kindly upon us here, and take us up with you at the hour of our death.

Intercessions
As we joyfully celebrate the feast of our father Saint Dominic, let us bring our needs and those of the world to our compassionate God.
【R】Lord, save your people.

God of compassion, you have called us to serve you by following in the footsteps of Saint Dominic:
- give us, then a share in his burning love for truth.【R】

Saint Dominic sent his sons to enrich the world with the fruit of their study and contemplation:
- keep them, O Lord, assiduous in study, constant in prayer and fervent in preaching.【R】

Like sheep without a shepherd, the peoples of the world hunger for the pastures of life and thirst for the springs of truth:
- Lord, multiply in your Church the numbers of men and women who desire fittingly to proclaim your love in today's world.【R】

Your only-begotten Son was obedient unto death, and you raised him up to glory:
- grant that all our departed brothers and sisters may contemplate your face without end.【R】

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Concluding Prayer
Almighty God, you have enlightened your Church by the merits and teachings of Saint Dominic, your confessor and our father. Giant, by his intercession, that she may never lack temporal help but grow ever richer in spiritual blessings: we ask this through our Lord Jesus. Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
