Hymn

O Jesus, King most wonderful,
O noble Lord, who conquers all
With all the sweetness of your love
Our ever-seeking hearts enthral.

O mighty king, O glorious one,
O powerful, great, victorious king,
O Giver of all splendid gifts,
The hosts of heaven your glory sing.

The choirs of heaven your might proclaim
And echo back your ringing praise,
For Jesus fills the world with joy
Brings peace with God in all our ways.

Good Jesus governs all in peace,
Our senses cannot ever know.
Our minds for ever seek his love,
We haste to find love's overflow.

With praises now we follow Christ,
We follow on with prayer and hymn,
That Jesus may then give us joy
To find a place in heaven with him.

O Jesus, flower of Mary's womb,
The love, which sweetens all our days,
Who reigns in bliss for evermore
To you be honour, glory, praise. Amen.

Psalmody

Psalm 45

Ant 1: Glorify the Lord with me, together let us praise his name.

God is for us a refuge and strength, *
a helper close at hand, in time of distress:

so we shall not fear though the earth should rock, *
though the mountains fall into the depths of the sea,

even though its waters rage and foam, *
even though the mountains be shaken by its waves.

The waters of a river give joy to God's city, *
the holy place where the Most High dwells.

God is within, it cannot be shaken; *
God will help it at the dawning of the day.

Nations are in tumult, kingdoms are shaken: *
he lifts up his voice, the earth shrinks away.

Come, consider the works of the Lord *
the redoubtable deeds he has done on the earth.

He puts an end to wars over all the earth;+
the bow he breaks, the spear he snaps. *
He burns the shields with fire.

Be still and know that I am God, *
supreme among the nations, supreme on the earth!

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit;

as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.

Ant 1: Glorify the Lord with me, together let us praise his name.

Psalm 115

Ant 2: A thanksgiving sacrifice I make; I will call on the Lord's name.

I trusted, even when I said: *
'I am sorely afflicted,'

and when I said in my alarm: *
'No man can be trusted.'

How can I repay the Lord *
for his goodness to me?

The cup of salvation I will raise; *
I will call on the Lord's name.

My vows to the Lord I will. fulfill *
before all his people.

O precious in the eyes of the Lord *
is the death of his faithful.

Your servant, Lord, your servant am I; *
you have loosened my bonds.

A thanksgiving sacrifice I make: *
I will call on the Lord's name.

My vows to the Lord I will fulfill *
before all his people,

in the courts of the house of the Lord, *
in your midst, O Jerusalem.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit;

as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.

Ant 2: A thanksgiving sacrifice I make; I will call on the Lord's name.

Canticle: Phil. 2, 6-11

Ant 3: All nations shall come and adore you and glorify your name, O Lord.

Though he was in the form of God, *
Jesus did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped.

He emptied himself,+
taking the form of a servant, *
being born in the likeness of men.

And being found in human form, +
he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, *
even death on a cross.

Therefore God has highly exalted him *
and bestowed on him the name which is above every name,

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, *
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

And every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, *
to the glory of God the Father.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit;

as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.

Ant 3: All nations shall come and adore you and glorify your name, o Lord.

Magnificat Antiphon
The Almighty works wonders for me, Holy his name.

My soul glorifies the Lord, *
my spirit rejoices in God, my Saviour.

He looks on his servant in her lowliness; *
henceforth all ages will call me blessed.

The Almighty works marvels for me. *
Holy his name!

His mercy is from age to age, *
on those who fear him.

He puts forth his arm in strength *
and scatters the proud-hearted.

He casts the mighty from their thrones *
and raises the lowly.

He fills the starving with good things, *
sends the rich away empty.

He protects Israel, his servant, *
remembering his mercy,

the mercy promised to our fathers, *
to Abraham and his sons for ever.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit;

as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.

Magnificat Antiphon
The Almighty works wonders for me, Holy his name.

Intercessions
We acknowledge Jesus' as rest for our souls. Let us then pray:
【R】Loving King, have mercy on us.

Jesus, king and centre of all hearts, your everlasting love mercifully seeks to draw us to yourself
- renew your covenant with all men.【R】

Jesus, our peace and reconciliation, by your cross you broke down all sinful barriers, restoring man's unity and peace
- open up to us the way to the Father.【R】

Jesus, our life and resurrection, you are refreshment to the heavy-burdened and tranquil rest for our souls
- draw all sinners to yourself.【R】

Jesus, obedient even unto death
- in your infinite love grant eternal rest and joy to the faithful departed.【R】

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Concluding Prayer
O God, you appointed your Son as Saviour of the human race and decreed that he should be called Jesus. May we who venerate his name on earth come to enjoy his presence in heaven; we make our prayer through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen
