The daughter of Premislaus, king of Bohemia, Agnes was born about the year 1205. She refused marriage to the emperor and in 1236 founded a monastery of Poor Clares, which she entered, and of which she was later Abbess for many years. She enjoyed the special friendship of Saint Clare, who wrote her several letters on questions of seraphic perfection. She died between the years 1280 and 1283.
