Evening Prayer
1129 Feast
Hymn
Eternal life you won for all,
Give now your help, O Jesus Lord
And kindly Mother, Virgin blest
Through you our lives be now restored.
Triumphant joyful martyr bands
And holy glorious priestly choir,
With spotless virgins there above,
Make clean our guilty heart's desire.
All saints, who reign among the stars
In halls resounding with God's praise,
Look down with favour on our prayers
For grace to walk in virtue's ways.
All power, honour, glory, praise
To you, Our Father, and the Son
And Holy Spirit, Paraclete
While all the endless ages run.
Psalmody
Psalm 14
Ant. 1:I saw a throng which no man could number from every nation, standing before the throne.
Lord, who shall be admitted to your tent *
and dwell on your holy mountain?
He who walks without fault; *
he who acts with justice
and speaks the truth from his heart; *
he who does not slander with his tongue;
he who does no wrong to his brother, *
who casts no slur on his neighbour,
who holds the godless in disdain, *
but honours those who fear the Lord;
he who keeps his pledge, come what may; *
who takes no interest on a loan
and accepts no bribes against the innocent. *
Such a man will stand firm for ever.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.
Ant. 1:I saw a throng which no man could number from every nation, standing before the throne.
Psalm 111
Ant. 2:They had the name of the Lamb and his Father's name written on their foreheads.
Happy the man who fears the Lord *
who takes delight in all his commands.
His sons will be powerful on earth. *
the children of the upright are blessed.
Riches and wealth are in his house; *
his justice stands firm for ever.
He is a light in the darkness for the upright: *
he is generous, merciful and just.
The good man takes pity and lends, *
he conducts his affairs with honour.
The just man will never waver: *
he will be remembered forever.
He has no fear of evil news; *
with a firm heart he trusts in the Lord.
With a steadfast heart he will not fear. *
he will see the downfall of his foes.
Open-handed, he gives to the poor; +
his justice stands firm forever. *
His head will be raised in glory.
The wicked man sees and is angry, +
grinds his teeth and fades away. *
the desire of the wicked leads to doom.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.
Ant. 2:They had the name of the Lamb and his Father's name written on their foreheads.
Canticle: Rev. 15, 3-4
Ant. 3: The saints all rejoice with Christ: dressed in white robes they follow the Lamb wherever he goes.
Great and wonderful are your deeds, *
O Lord God the Almighty!
Just and true are your ways, *
O King of the ages!
Who shall not fear and glorify your name, O Lord? *
For you alone are holy.
All nations shall come and worship you, *
for your judgments have been revealed.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.
Ant. 3: The saints all rejoice with Christ: dressed in white robes they follow the Lamb wherever he goes.
Scripture Reading [Ecclus. 44, 1&6-7]
Let us call the roll of famous men that were our fathers, long ago. Here were men, noble of aim, that dwelt peacefully in their homes. These were the glories of their race, the ornament of their times; and the sons they begot have left a memory that adds to the recital of their praise.
Responsory
【V】:This is true brotherhood, which has conquered the darkness of the world by the love of Christ.
【R】:This is true brotherhood, which has conquered the darkness of the world by the love of Christ.
【V】:It is an illustrious brotherhood now in glory.
【R】:This is true brotherhood, which has conquered the darkness of the world by the love of Christ.
【V】:Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
【R】:This is true brotherhood, which has conquered the darkness of the world by the love of Christ.
Magnificat Antiphon
Such are the things as were never known from the beginning, as ear never heard, eye never saw, save at your command, you O God, have made ready for all who await your aid.
My soul glorifies the Lord, *
my spirit rejoices in God, my Saviour.
He looks on his servant in her lowliness; *
henceforth all ages will call me blessed.
The Almighty works marvels for me. *
Holy his name!
His mercy is from age to age, *
on those who fear him.
He puts forth his arm in strength *
and scatters the proud-hearted.
He casts the mighty from their thrones *
and raises the lowly.
He fills the starving with good things, *
sends the rich away empty.
He protects Israel, his servant, *
remembering his mercy,
the mercy promised to our fathers, *
to Abraham and his sons for ever.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.

Intercessions
God it is who crowns the victory of the saints. Let us therefore pray to him:
【R】Save us, Lord, through the intercession of the saints.
Your martyrs testified to you, even to the shedding of their blood
- make all Christians faithful witnesses to your word.【R】
Lord, be with those who have consecrated their lives to you in virginity
- may their hope and generosity be a sign to the world of the life of glory that awaits them at the end of time.【R】
In the saints you reveal your presence and your care
- as we venerate them may we be drawn closer to you.【R】
Welcome our departed brothers and sisters into the company of all the saints
- through their intercession grant us a place in your kingdom.【R】
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Concluding Prayer
Almighty and ever-living God, you were pleased to make your Church illustrious through the varied splendour of the Saints of the Seraphic Order. As we venerate their memory in one festival may we also follow such shining examples of virtues on earth and thus obtain merited crowns in heaven: we ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
