Hymn

Lawrence, a powerful teacher
of sanctity and fame,
the glory of a Doctor
was added to your name.

Attend to prayers and praises
of those on pilgrimage;
the children of Saint Francis
still claim your patronage.

From thy high place in glory
thy help on us bestow,
the Order of Saint Francis
you fostered here below.

Increase again this Order
with many fervent sons;
enrich with every virtue
the Church's little ones.

On earth may they still follow
the pattern of your ways,
and merit ever after
to share eternal joys.

May glory sempiternal
be to the Trinity;
and may the prayers of Lawrence
gain us eternity.

Scripture Reading [2 Cor. 5, 14&19-21]
The love of Christ overwhelms us when we reflect that if one man has died for all, then all men should be dead.God in Christ was reconciling the world to himself, not holding men's faults against them, and he has entrusted to us the news that they are reconciled. So we are ambassadors for Christ; it is as though God were appealing to us, and the appeal that we make in Christ's name is: be reconciled to God.

Short Responsory [2 Cor. 5, 15-18]
【V】:Let those who live, no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and rose again: Christ our God.
【R】:Let those who live, no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and rose again: Christ our God.

【V】:He who reconciled us to himself gave us the ministry of reconciliation.
【R】:Let those who live, no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and rose again: Christ our God.

【V】:Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
【R】:Let those who live, no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and rose again: Christ our God.

Benedictus Antiphon
Serving the Lord in holiness and justice, he guided the People of God into the way of peace.

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel! *
He has visited his people and redeemed them.

He has raised up for us a mighty saviour *
in the house of David his servant,

as he promised by the lips of holy men, *
those who were his prophets from of old.

A saviour who would free us from our foes, *
from the hands of all who hate us.

So his love for our fathers is fulfilled *
and his holy covenant remembered.

He swore to Abraham our father to grant us, *
that free from fear, and saved from the hands of our foes,

we might serve him in holiness and justice *
all the days of our life in his presence.

As for you, little child, *
you shall be called a prophet of God, the Most High.

You shall go ahead of the Lord *
to prepare his ways before him,

To make known to his people their salvation *
through forgiveness of all their sins,

the loving-kindness of the heart of our God *
who visits us like the dawn from on high.

He will give light to those in darkness, +
those who dwell in the shadow of death, *
and guide us into the way of peace.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit;

as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.

Intercessions
Let us praise Christ the Lord, whom the Father has made for us the way, the truth and the life, humbly saying:
Draw us to yourself, O Lord.【R】

You wished to serve and not to be served
- grant that we may serve you and our brothers.【R】

You came to preach the Gospel to the poor
- grant that we may preach it to all creation.【R】

You came to reconcile the world through your blood
- grant that we may work together for the reconciliation of all men.【R】

You told us to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world
- enlighten us by your Holy Spirit.【R】

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Concluding Prayer
Lord God, you bestowed on Saint Lawrence of Brindisi the spirit of counsel and fortitude, so that your name might be glorified and souls be saved. At the intercession of Saint Lawrence grant that we may see what we have to do, and, in your mercy, give us the strength to do it: we ask this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
