Morning Prayer
0517 Holy Men Memorial
HYMN
Rise up, O men of God!
Have done with lesser things.
Give heart and mind and soul and strength
To serve the King of kings.
Rise up, O men of God!
The kingdom tarries long.
Bring in the day of brotherhood
And end the night of wrong.
Rise up, O men of God!
The church for you doth wait,
Her strength unequal to her task;
Rise up and make her great!
Lift high the cross of Christ!
Tread where His feet have trod.
As brothers of the Son of Man,
Rise up, O men of God!

Antiphons and Psalms of the Weekday
READING [Romans 12:1-2]
Brothers, I beg you through the mercy of God to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to God, your spiritual worship. Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, so that you may judge what is God’s will, what is good, pleasing and perfect.
RESPONSORY
【V】:In the depths of his heart, the law of God is his guide.
【R】:In the depths of his heart, the law of God is his guide.
【V】:He will never lose his way;
【R】:the law of God is his guide.
【V】:Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
【R】:In the depths of his heart, the law of God is his guide.
Benedictus Antiphon
He walked before the Lord in holiness and justice; and was given the knowledge of salvation to build up the people of God (alleluia).
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel! *
He has visited his people and redeemed them.
He has raised up for us a mighty saviour *
in the house of David his servant,
as he promised by the lips of holy men, *
those who were his prophets from of old.
A saviour who would free us from our foes, *
from the hands of all who hate us.
So his love for our fathers is fulfilled *
and his holy covenant remembered.
He swore to Abraham our father to grant us, *
that free from fear, and saved from the hands of our foes,
we might serve him in holiness and justice *
all the days of our life in his presence.
As for you, little child, *
you shall be called a prophet of God, the Most High.
You shall go ahead of the Lord *
to prepare his ways before him,
To make known to his people their salvation *
through forgiveness of all their sins,
the loving-kindness of the heart of our God *
who visits us like the dawn from on high.
He will give light to those in darkness, +
those who dwell in the shadow of death, *
and guide us into the way of peace.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.

INTERCESSIONS
My brothers, let us praise Christ, asking to serve him and to be holy and righteous in his sight all the days of our life. Let us acclaim him:
【R】Lord, you alone are the holy one.
You desired to experience everything we experience but sin,
- have mercy on us, Lord Jesus.【R】
You called us to love perfectly,
- make us holy, Lord Jesus.【R】
You commissioned us to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world,
- let your light shine on us, Lord Jesus.【R】
You desired to serve, not to be served,
- help us, Lord Jesus, to give humble service to you and to our neighbors.【R】
You are in the form of God sharing in the splendor of the Father,
- Lord Jesus, let us see the glory of your face.【R】
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Concluding Prayer
Lord God, you gave Saint Paschal Baylon a great love for the Holy Eucharist. May we also share in the graces he received from this heavenly banquet: through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
