Morning Prayer
0512 Pastors Memorial
HYMN
Loving shepherd of thy sheep,
Keep thy lamb in safety keep;
Nothing can thy power withstand,
none can pluck me from thy hand.
I would praise thee every day,
Gladly all thy will obey,
Like thy blessed ones above,
Happy in thy perfect love.
Loving shepherd ever near,
Teach thy lamb thy voice to hear
Suffer not my steps to stray
from the straight and narrow way.
Where thou leadest, I would go,
Walking in thy steps below,
Till before my father’s throne.
I shall know as I am known.

READING [Hebrews 13:7-9a]
Remember your leaders who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teaching.

Benedictus Antiphon
Happy the man who is merciful in the Lord; he will never be moved.
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel! *
He has visited his people and redeemed them.
He has raised up for us a mighty saviour *
in the house of David his servant,
as he promised by the lips of holy men, *
those who were his prophets from of old.
A saviour who would free us from our foes, *
from the hands of all who hate us.
So his love for our fathers is fulfilled *
and his holy covenant remembered.
He swore to Abraham our father to grant us, *
that free from fear, and saved from the hands of our foes,
we might serve him in holiness and justice *
all the days of our life in his presence.
As for you, little child, *
you shall be called a prophet of God, the Most High.
You shall go ahead of the Lord *
to prepare his ways before him,
To make known to his people their salvation *
through forgiveness of all their sins,
the loving-kindness of the heart of our God *
who visits us like the dawn from on high.
He will give light to those in darkness, +
those who dwell in the shadow of death, *
and guide us into the way of peace.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.

INTERCESSIONS
Christ is the Good Shepherd who laid down his life for his sheep. Let us praise and thank him as we pray:
【R】Nourish your people, Lord.
Christ, you decided to show your merciful love through your holy shepherds,
- let your mercy always reach us through them.【R】
Through your vicars you continue to perform the ministry of shepherd of souls,
- direct us always through our leaders.【R】
Through your holy ones, the leaders of your people, you served as physician of our bodies and our spirits,
- continue to fulfill your ministry of life and holiness in us.【R】
You taught your flock through the prudence and love of your saints,
- grant us continual growth in holiness under the direction of our pastors.【R】
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Concluding Prayer
O God, true love and supreme unity, you adorned Saint Leopold your priest with the virtue of great compassion for sinners, and filled him with zeal for Christian unity. Through his prayers grant that we, renewed in mind and heart, may be able to show your love to all, and confidently seek the unity of all believers. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen
